Cartoons insulting Muhammad (saw) republished in Tamil Nadu, India

Insulting the honour of our beloved Messenger (saw) by the newspaper Dinamalar

“O you who believe! Take not as (your) Bitanah (advisors, consultants, protectors, helpers, friends) those outside your deen (Pagans, Jews, Christians, Mushriks and Hypocrites) since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Indeed We have made plain to you the ayat (proofs, evidences, verses) if you understand.” [TMQ 3:118]

It is a well known fact that the western world harbours evil intentions and does not miss an opportunity to degrade Muslims and Islam. The peak of their hatred was exposed when the European magazines re-published the blasphemous cartoons of Prophet (saw) imitating the Danish daily, Jyllands-Posten. In their competition for hatred the American army flushed the noble Quran in the toilets in Afghanistan. In Netherlands Geert Wilders a degenerate parliamentarian contributed to this crusade by attacking the noble Quran by his move entitled ‘Fitna’. The western world is least ashamed of engaging in such cheap campaigns to malign Islam.

From the day of inception the cheap fascist newspaper Dinamalar of Tamil Nadu in India has not left any stone unturned to vilify and malign Islam and spread hatred towards Muslims. For the past few months the newspaper has reached peaks in this campaign towards Islam. Imitating the Danish daily, the fascist local newspaper Dinamalar (Vellore Edition) re-published the blasphemous cartoons in the blessed month of Ramadhan, on 2nd September 2008 and deeply hurt the Muslim sentiments.

Under the guise journalism, Dinamalar’s actions are clearly creating hatred and panic among people in a nation where communal tensions often lead to the destruction of property and the loss of innocent lives. There are countless examples that highlight the clear double standards of the authorities towards Muslims and those who clearly provoke violence.

A recent example of this hypocrisy can be observed in the actions taken by the police during the riot organised and conducted by Hindu outfits in Kashmir regarding the issue of land allocation to the Amarnath temple. In this riot public properties were destroyed and two policemen were brutally killed. The government did not take any action against these Hindu groups even when the rioters attacked the police men. At the same time when Muslims are conducting protests in a fully peaceful way, they are aggressively treated by the police, being imprisoned on false pretexts and are even being shot and killed in the name of searching for terrorists.

Bal thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena, earlier in a speech given to the TV channel ‘Aaj Tak’ stated Hindus should become suicide bombers and that they should carry out attacks on in Muslim localities to create panic and fear amongst Muslims. Such statements are commonly uttered by him yet he walks freely. Can the people forget when an arrest warrant imposed on him, he said with pride as, "No one can arrest me and if they do so, the whole Maharastra state will be burn".

Under the guise of the false notion of ‘freedom of expression’ they aim to defame Islam and make it synonymous with terrorism and want to portray our beloved messenger, Muhammad (saw) as the Prophet of terror. This is part of the global ‘war on terror’ which any thinking person knows is in reality a war against Islam.

How can this cheap daily Dinamalar dare to even think of publishing such blasphemous cartoons depicting the Prophet (saw), whom the Muslims respect above their own lives? Do they believe that Muslims have become a people of no sensation or those who do not have the capacity to respond or is it that their hatred has exceeded all bounds of decency?

The forces that vilify our beloved Prophet (saw) seem to be gaining an upper hand nowadays. Such fascist forces are finding a safe shelter not only under the pretext of ‘freedom of expression’ but implicitly being allowed to so by various governments. This indicates the declined state of the Muslims. Respecting the Prophet (saw) more than their lives is an inseparable part of Muslims Iman. Muslims must stand up to protect the honor of Prophet (saw) and not be passive bystanders. Allah (swt) says:

النَّبِيُّ أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ ِ
“The prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their (believers) mothers.” [TMQ 33:6]

Anas (ra) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:

«لا يؤمن عبد حتى أكون أحب إليه من أهله وماله والناس أجمعين»
“None of you would be considered a believer until I become more beloved to him than his family, wealth and all the people.” [Agreed Upon]

In the past whenever such cheap acts of vilifying Islam were attempted they were critically defeated in their attempts by the powerful Islamic leadership. George Bernard Shaw, the famous British writer said in 1913 that he was stopped from writing blasphemous article about our noble Prophet (saw) by Lord Chamberlin. Chamberlin was afraid of the repercussions from the Islamic Khilafah state. Twenty years prior to the destruction of the Khilafah, a play based on the writings of Voltaire was being staged in France and Britain titled “Mohammad or Fanaticism”, deriding the character of the Prophet (saw) due to his marriage to Zainab (ra). When the Khalifah (Sultan Abdul Hamid II) was informed of the play, his ambassador to France warned the government of the serious political repercussions which would follow if it was continued. France promptly stopped the play, so the group went to England. When the same warning was issued to England, the reply was that the tickets were sold out, and banning the play would be an infringement on the freedom of its citizens. So the following edict was issued by the Sultan, saying in no unclear terms: “I will issue an edict to the Islamic Ummah declaring that Britain is attacking and insulting our Prophet. I will declare Jihad…” Upon receiving this ultimatum, the claim for freedom of speech was forgotten, and the performance quickly stopped.

Abu Hurayrah (ra) reports that Muhammad (saw) said:

((إنما الإمام جُنة يُقاتَل من ورائه ويُتقى به))
“The Imam is a shield, from behind which the Muslims fight and defend themselves.” [Sahih Muslim]

It is obligatory on all the Islamic groups to set aside their differences and come together to counter the campaign against our beloved Prophet (saw) who came as a mercy to Mankind. They should in a united manner carry forward this struggle against this cheap newspaper Dinamalar. At the same time they must work for a true solution, the Islamic Khilafah state that will cut the evil tongues which spew venom against our bellowed Prophet (saw) and that will liberate humanity from the oppression of Kufr to the justice and mercy of Islam.

History bears testimony to the justice of Islam under which Muslim and non-Muslim lived in harmony for hundreds of years. The first Mughal ruler Babur left the following will to his son Humayun who came to power after his death in 1530 CE this document is available in the State Library of Bhopal, India:

“My son take note of the following: Do not harbour religious prejudice in your heart. You should dispense justice while taking note of the people's religious sensitivities, and rites. Avoid slaughtering cows in order that you could gain a place in the heart of natives. This will take you nearer to the people. Do not demolish or damage places of worship of any faith and dispense full justice to all to ensure peace in the country. Islam can better be preached by the sword of love and affection, rather than the sword of tyranny and persecution. Avoid the differences between the Shias and Sunnis. Look at the various characteristics of your people just as characteristics of various seasons.”

It is only this system of Islam that will bring back justice and harmony for Muslims and non-Muslims again.

This is not the correct understanding. It is true that there are many texts that indicate that in general when the ummah leaves enjoining the good and forbidding the evil they will face calamity after calamity.

However this does not mean we can point fingers to specific Muslims and say that they deserve the oppression, so the young girl raped in Iraq by the Americans - what did she do to deserve that? The young innocent boys shot by the Israeli's like Muhammad al-Durrah, what did he do to deserve that? The elderly bombed in Afghanistan, what did they do to deserve that?

Abu Hurayrah (ra) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:

«إذا قال الرجل هلك الناس فهو أهلكهم»

“If a man says the people have perished then he is destroyed.”

As Muslims we should spread hope and not despair in the mercy of Allah, His victory and rescue. Abu Musa al-Ash’ari (ra) narrated:

«بعثني رسول الله ومعاذاً إلى اليمن فقال: ادعوا الناس وبشرا ولا تنفرا ...»

“The Messenger of Allah (saw) sent me to Yemen and said: Invite people and give them glad tiding and do not drive away them…”

Agreed upon.

Jundub (ra) narrated that:

«حدث أن رجلاً قال: والله لا يغفر الله لفلان، وأن الله تعالى قال: من ذا الذي يتألى علي أن لا أغفر لفلان، فإني غفرت لفلان وأحبطت عملك أو كما قال»

“Allah's Messenger (saw) stated that a person said: Allah would not forgive such and such (person). Thereupon Allah the Exalted and Glorious, said: Who is he who adjures about Me that I would not grant pardon to so and so; I have granted pardon to so and so and blotted out his deeds (who took an oath that I would not grant pardon to him).” Reported by Muslim.

Fatalism is haram, we have to work to change the bad situation we are in, not justify it.

how can you have an islamic state if everyones aqeedah is incorrect, you need to correct peoples aqeedah first!..people are worshipping tombs and saints, committing shirk etc...so dedicate yourselfs to correcting the ummahs aqeedah and then work for an islamic state , if foundations are not pure then the rest will not.

It is the Islamic state that will correct the masses by establishing the systems of Islam over them.

It is because of the absence of the ruling by Islam that bid'a and munkar is spreading.

"Verily, the knots of Islam will be undone one by one. Whenever one knot is lost then the people grabbed onto the one which came after it. The first of these knots will be the Ruling and the last will be the Salah." [Reported by At-Tabaraani]

And in another version:
"Verily, the knots of Islam will be undone and there shall be misguided rulers." [Authenticated by al-Hakim in his Mustadrak]

Ali ibn abi Taalib (r.a.) said, "The people will not be straightened except by an Imaam (Khaleefah), whether he is good or bad".
(Bayhaqi, No. 14286, Kanz ul-ummal)

Abdullah ibn 'Umar (r.a.) said "The people in the Ummah will not suffer even if they were oppressors and sinful if the rulers were guided and were guiding. But the people in the Ummah will suffer and perish even if they were guided and were guiding if the rulers were oppressors and sinful".
(Abu Nu'aim narrated in 'Hulayat Awliyyah.)

It is Fard Ayn to work for the re-establishment of the Khilafah and to claim that it is not fard is a great bid'a itself. See http://islamicsystem.blogspot.com/2006/04/khilafah.html

Also we cannot invent a methodology to re-establish the Khilafah from our minds, whilst it is true that the group working for it should be Islamic personalities and free from bid'a, etc it is not a condition that the Ummah in general will be good Islamic personalities before the establishment of the Khilafah. Even after 10 years of the Prophet (saw)'s rule in Madina when he (saw) passed away, two thirds of the Islamic state rebelled and many thousands become murtad (apostated) from Islam such that the army of Musailamah al-Kazaab was bigger than the army of Khalid bin Waleed. So do we expect we are going to make the people better before establishing the Khilafah than the Prophet (saw) could make them after 10 years of Islamic rule?

but how do you explain the bida and shirk in the arabian penninsula which shaykh muhammed bin abdul wahab (ra) worked to get rid of, this was under the ottoman khilafah. so how can you say khilafah will correct the masses, what did it do to correct the people then?

That is because it wasn't Khilafah Rashida it had become which misimplemented many aspects of Islam, we have to work to re-establish the Khilafah Rashida which will implement Islam properly. We know from multiple ahadith that the Khilafah when it is re-established will be upon the model of Prophethood and thus will be a Khilafah Rashida. The famous hadith in the Musnad of Imam Ahmad says: "Then the Khilafah will return on the path of the Prophethood"

See this article which goes through many of these ahadith: http://islamicsystem.blogspot.com/2006/05/evidences-about-return-of-khilafah.html

It is this Khilafah that we must work for.

An advice to Muslims working in the financial sector

Assalam wa alaikum wa rahmatullah wabarakatahu, Dear Brothers & Sisters, We are saddened to see Muslims today even those who practise many of the rules of Islam are working in jobs which involve haram in the financial sector. They are working in positions which involve usurious (Riba) transactions, insurance, the stock market and the like. Even though many of the clear evidences regarding the severity of the sin of Riba are known, some have justified their job to themselves thinking that they are safe as long as they are not engaged in the actual action of taking or giving Riba. Brothers & Sisters, You should know that the majority of jobs in the financial sector, even the IT jobs in this area are haram (prohibited) as they involve the processing of prohibited contracts. If you work in this sector, do not justify your job to yourself because of the fear of losing your position or having to change your career, fear Allah as he should be feared and consider His law regard

Q&A: Age of separating children in the beds?

Question: Please explain the hukm regarding separation of children in their beds. At what age is separation an obligation upon the parents? Also can a parent sleep in the same bed as their child? Answer: 1- With regards to separating children in their beds, it is clear that the separation which is obligatory is when they reach the age of 7 and not since their birth. This is due to the hadith reported by Daarqutni and al-Hakim from the Messenger (saw) who said: When your children reach the age of 7 then separate their beds and when they reach 10 beat them if they do not pray their salah.’ This is also due to what has been narrated by al-Bazzar on the authority of Abi Rafi’ with the following wording: ‘We found in a sheet near the Messenger of Allah (saw) when he died on which the following was written: Separate the beds of the slave boys and girls and brothers and sisters of 7 years of age.’ The two hadiths are texts on the separation of children when they reach the age of 7. As for the

Q&A: Shari' rule on songs, music, singing & instruments?

The following is a draft translation from the book مسائل فقهية مختارة (Selected fiqhi [jurprudential] issues) by the Mujtahid, Sheikh Abu Iyas Mahmoud Abdul Latif al-Uweida (May Allah protect him) . Please refer to the original Arabic for exact meanings. Question: What is the Shari’ ruling in singing or listening to songs?  What is the hukm of using musical instruments and is its trade allowed? I request you to answer in detail with the evidences? Answer: The Imams ( Mujtahids ) and the jurists have differed on the issue of singing and they have varying opinions such as haraam (prohibited), Makruh (disliked) and Mubah (permissible), the ones who have prohibited it are from the ones who hold the opinion of prohibition of singing as a trade or profession, and a similar opinion has been transmitted from Imam Shafi’i, and from the ones who disliked it is Ahmad Ibn Hanbal who disliked the issue and categorised its performance under disliked acts, a similar opinion has been tran
